court booking - auto move to open court

The way the court booking works now is that if Member A goes in to book Court 1 (which shows open when they start the process) and while Member A is in the process of booking that court Member B books that same court, Member A gets a message saying "No Available Courts for the time requested" even if there are other courts of the same type available. This message appears even when there are other courts available. (Message text at a minimum should be corrected.)

We would like to have the system automatically assign them to another court of the same type if one is available.

As a side note, all of the clubs coming from tennisbookings.com are used to having the system automatically assign them to a different court (of the same type) if the one they are trying to book gets booked before them). All of their members are going to be unhappy with the way that CR works - which is disappointing since CR is such great software overall. Booking courts is the #1 thing people use CR for and so their #1 experience will not be as positive as they want. :-(

While I understand the concern, on the flip side of that argument, there are things we do better than TennisBookings. While we never want to disrupt users migrating over from another system, there are certain things we have to decide on in terms of product features. No two systems are alike when it comes to software. Each company carries its own identify and path to innovation. While I hear you on this request, it's not a simple and easy thing to do from a development side. This feature is on our roadmap with medium priority, so it will get done at some point, just not in the short term.

There is a work-around to this where if you choose to display the consolidated calendar and just choose a court by court type, then the system will assign any court of that type that's available. Many of our clubs provide this option as a work-around and seem to be pleased with the way it works since it's much easier to get a court of a particular type at a specific time. The great thing is, both schedulers can be used.

GOOD NEWS - I have talked to development and since TennisBookings has this, we are going to move this up in priority to get done next week! We should be able to release early part of Jan!
