Ability to identify Account credits uniquely - like promotional discounts separate from frontloading accounts

When frontloading or adding a manual credit to a member's account, would like to be able to add a "category" called promotions so that the credit can be tracked uniquely.   Also, this would pertain to Point of Sale as well.   Would like to be able to add a Point of Sale item name called "Promotional discount" and put in a negative $ amount that can be applied to a member's POS transaction if they have documentation pertaining to a promotion they are entitled to (ie: birthday promotional credit)
