Ability to override tax as state laws widely vary when it comes to sale tax

AJ Carney 1 month ago in Point of Sale / Inventory Management updated by Josh Weese 4 weeks ago 1

There is no simple or easy way to un-apply tax due to state laws. Example: New York State law says any item(s) such as clothing or footwear under $110 is exempt from sales tax both state and local (Monroe county) which means all 8% should not be applied to sale when meeting the requirements. There is no option through the point of sale to override the tax like there is when it comes to price and discount override option. The only solution customer service provided was to create two of every item, one with tax and one without. This is a terrible solution as the amount of time it creates to enter hundred of items and then do it twice is ridiculous. Also, the potential risk of staff incorrectly choosing the "two" items one that has tax and one that has no tax is too high which would create more headaches. Please consider creating this option or something that allows to control the sales tax when state law requires to.
