Improve Phone Number Search Functionality
Currently, when searching for a member by phone number, the search only returns results when the phone number is entered in the exact same format as it's stored in the member's profile (parentheses, dashes, spaces, etc.). This makes searching cumbersome and often leads users to believe the member doesn't exist.
For example, these should all return the same result:
- 541-555-1234
- (541) 555-1234
- 5415551234
- 1-541-555-1234
- 541 555 1234
Most users don't know how a phone number is formatted in the database, and modern search functions typically ignore punctuation and formatting when matching phone numbers.
It would be extremely helpful if the search normalized phone numbers by removing spaces, parentheses, dashes, country codes (when appropriate), and other formatting before performing the search. This would make finding members much faster and eliminate unnecessary frustration for staff.
Thanks for considering this enhancement. I believe it would be a valuable quality-of-life improvement for every facility using CourtReserve.
