Extend Penalty System to Block Event & Round Robin Registration
I’d like to submit a feature request regarding the current penalty system and how it applies to member behavior management.
At our facility, we currently use penalties (e.g., late cancellations or no-shows) to manage court reservation behavior. When a member accumulates a certain number of penalties, their court reservation privileges can be restricted or suspended.
We would like to extend this functionality to include event-based registrations, for example:
- Round Robins
- Challenge/Open Play
- Leagues
- Tournaments
- Special Events
- Clinics and other structured programs
Proposed Enhancement:
- Allow facilities to set a configurable penalty threshold.
- Once a member reaches that threshold, they would be temporarily restricted from registering for events, not just court reservations.
- This restriction would apply across selected event types (for example, Round Robins and Leagues, but not necessarily private lessons if the facility chooses to exclude them).
- The restriction should be time-based or penalty-based (e.g., 30 days or 3 penalties within a rolling window).
Why this matters:
Right now, a member who repeatedly no-shows or cancels late can still continue registering for high-demand events like Round Robins, which:
- Affects fairness for other members on waitlists
- Creates administrative overhead for staff managing attendance
- Reduces the reliability and quality of structured programming
Extending penalty enforcement to events would help ensure consistency across all participation types and reinforce accountability across the entire member experience—not just court bookings.
Thank you for considering this enhancement. I believe it would significantly improve operational consistency and fairness for facilities using CourtReserve for both reservations and programming.
