Suggestion to Improve Family Account Email Handling
Hello CourtReserve Team,
Recently, I was contacted by a few players who did not recognize reservations that had been made under their names. I found this unusual, so I decided to investigate.
One of the players mentioned that the reservation appeared under a friend's name, which led me to believe the issue might be related to the Family Settings feature. My understanding is that when someone is added to a family account without registering their own email address, and that person later adds a second organization to their app, the system may incorrectly associate the primary family account holder's email address with the second person's account.
This behaviour can create several issues, especially when an email address is linked to an account that does not actually belong to its owner. One of the most significant consequences is that the person who made the reservation may never receive notifications about important changes, such as modifications or cancellations, because those notifications are sent to an email address they do not have access to.
As a possible solution, I believe CourtReserve could verify whether the account attempting to join a new organization has its own email address associated with that user ID before allowing the organization to be added. This additional validation could help prevent email addresses from being unintentionally shared across different user accounts and reduce confusion for both players and administrators.
I hope this feedback is helpful, and thank you for your continued work on improving the platform.

Hi Moises,
I just sent you an email directly regarding this issue.
Thank you for contacting me Annie, here follows the one member that raised the issue:
Surrey Location,
Danny Lau #9582330
I'm not sure if he used his friend email by accident (non likely [email protected]) and even created a family setting in Surrey.
Burnaby Location
Vincent Lee #9234773
He has Danny as a family member, since they are friends, so I presumed that Danny added Surrey as the second location while under Vincent family account in Burnaby and CourtReserve "assumed" that [email protected] was his email as well.
I believe you can look a bit deeper, since you can see who created Danny's account in Surrey if it was through a regular registration using the email or if he created it using the family account and added Surrey as second location.
