Make POS system cafe - kitchen food assembly friendly

Mark Bland 2 years ago in Point of Sale / Inventory Management updated by Tim Owens 2 years ago 2

For kitchens that make food orders and drinks having the POS print tickets would be a huge time saver and support accurate order fulfillment.  The set up would require POS items to have the following attributes - Print ticket enabled.  If enabled user must select a printer.  So there will need to be a printer set up module.  Then when an order is placed and confirmed orders print on small thermal printers based on the configuration - drinks go to the drink station (bar) other items to the kitchen or even to the station in the kitchen.  The thermal labels print when the process sale occurs and prints with the transaction number, the member information (if selected) and the list of items and qty.  If you really wanted to go the whole way you would add in option to enable "Workstation Screen order management" at the item level and select a workstation for each item.  Workstations list each order in the same style as used in fast food restaurants.  A kitchen worker makes the food or the drinks and then touches the screen to confirm the item is complete.

Mark, we are actually going to be building integration into Toast for those that have cafe/resturants.  But I really like your suggestions here as a quick fix for those that need a more simplistic and less expensive approach!
