We are a local Badminton club renting court time from a Community Recreation Centre. We are using another club management program currently for online booking of our sessions, but we are looking at other vendors, that can better deal with some of the work arounds we are dealing with.
Currently, we get about 6-8 hours of court time per week. We would like to be able to use events, basically to book courts, but also add a partner for singles, or partners for doubles. Because of Public Health rules related to Covid tracing, we need to have a record of exactly who played on any day. We could make use the Event Registrants field and make it mandatory: "Enter Partner's Name". That will meet the public health ruling, but the partner won't be able to see what they have been registered for.
I am hoping that the existing tools for adding a partner to a Reservation, could be used to add a partner to an Event.
Our current software cannot do this either. By adding "members" as your partner, rather than free text, then your Partners could then hopefully see themselves in My Events. This would be attractive to other small community clubs that face the same Covid issues as us, and would like to implement Online booking solutions for their clubs.

There appear to be quite a number of different features being requested under this heading. I will address one scenario that I think applies to Court Reserve clients that own courts, as well as clients that rent courts from schools or Recreation centres. We are in the latter group. We use Events for Badminton "Dropin". This works great for us, as only registered CR members can book these events. In this scenario, all players attending are easily displayed, along with their vaccination status. There is mandatory contact tracing for indoor events under our current public health order in British Columbia. I am sure most clubs that own courts will have lots of Dropin type events similar to our Doubles Dropin on rented courts.
For clubs that own and rent out courts, they would use the reservation system in CR. In this case, I presume that I could sign up for a court, look up other registered members, and add them to the court as my guests. I understand that these members would be notified regarding their registration, and would be able to look up and find these upcoming reservations as well.
For clubs that rent their courts from others, we must use the Events module. In our case, we set up an event in our local Parks and Rec facility for renting out a court, usually at an hourly rate. We have 4 courts, so 4 players can rent out a court. To record the other players using that court, we needed to add a custom field: "Partner's Name(s) are:".
This is a free text field, and this is very limiting. For Covid tracing, it is not helpful to enter "Bob, George and John". Also, Bob, George and John will not get a reminder or have any record of this court rental in My Events. If you print an attendance record for this event, it will only list the 4 players renting the courts, but not their partners.
Because of Covid, we basically have made it mandatory that everyone playing must be fully registered in Court Reserve, with full contact information as well as vaccination status, including Guest players.
We are hoping that when we are using Events for court rentals, we would have the ability to "add partners" from the membership file, not as free text. In our case, we would assume the renting player would pay for the court, and partners would settle with the renter. While it would probably be sensible to also be able to add non-members as guests as free text, we would want to be able to turn this feature on or off. Again, with covid, we want full contact info for everyone, and would require all guests, to be "registered" in CR with a guest membership.
